Abuja Nigeria – Former senator and spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP presidential campaign council Dino Melaye has alleged that the party has effectively been bought over by the ruling All Progressives Congress APC and now functions under directives from the Presidential Villa.
Melaye made the statement during a press briefing in Abuja expressing deep concern over what he described as a loss of opposition voice in the current political climate.
The PDP has been purchased by the APC It now takes instructions from the Villa and that is the sad reality he said
He also called on party loyalists and democratic stakeholders to rise and reclaim the PDP insisting that a strong and independent opposition remains crucial to the health of any democracy.
The comments have stirred mixed reactions across political circles with some insiders admitting concerns about internal party dynamics while others dismissed Melayes claims as exaggerated.
