Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, has officially declared his interest in becoming the next Awujale of Ijebuland. The respected musician submitted a formal letter of intent to the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, signalling his readiness to be considered for the highly revered traditional throne.
According to reports, the letter—dated December 3, 2025—was addressed to the chairman of the ruling house at Agunsebi Quarters in Ijebu-Ode. In the document, KWAM 1 described himself as a “bona fide son of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House”, claiming direct lineage from the historic Oba Jadiara line, which he said qualifies him under Ijebuland’s customary laws and Ogun State chieftaincy guidelines.
KWAM 1 also highlighted his long-standing contributions to Yoruba culture, Ijebu heritage, and Nigeria’s entertainment industry, noting that his national and traditional titles reflect decades of cultural advocacy. The ruling house has reportedly acknowledged receipt of his application.
The throne became vacant following the transition of the former Awujale, and several prominent sons of Ijebuland are expected to show interest in the succession process. KWAM 1’s declaration has already generated widespread conversation across social media and traditional circles, given his status as both a cultural icon and a well-respected figure in Ijebuland.
As the selection process continues, all eyes remain on the Fusengbuwa Ruling House and the kingmakers, who will determine the next monarch of the historic Ijebu kingdom.
