2027: Too many sprinters in ADC, they need to slow down  —  Lamido

As political realignments begin ahead of the 2027 general elections, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Malam Sani Lamido, has raised concerns over what he describes as “political sprinting” within the party ranks.

Speaking during a strategy session with party stakeholders in Abuja, Lamido noted that many members of the ADC are rushing to declare ambitions and make moves without adequate groundwork or consultation.

“The ADC is filled with sprinters right now — everyone’s rushing ahead without proper coordination or clear direction. If we’re serious about 2027, we need to slow down, regroup, and plan better,” Lamido said.

He cautioned that the party risks fracturing its internal structure if members continue to pursue personal ambitions at the expense of collective strategy.

Lamido’s statement comes amid reports of growing internal competition, with multiple figures within the ADC rumored to be eyeing presidential, gubernatorial, and legislative positions.

He urged party leaders to prioritize unity and policy-based dialogue over personal campaigns, stressing that “politics is a marathon, not a sprint.”

Observers say Lamido’s remarks reflect the broader tensions within emerging political platforms as they seek to challenge the dominance of traditional power blocs ahead of 2027.
