Erling Haaland was at his lethal best as Manchester City cruised to a 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their opening Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium.
The Norwegian striker wasted no time announcing himself for the new season, breaking the deadlock in the 13th minute after being set up by Kevin De Bruyne. Julián Álvarez extended City’s lead just before halftime with a composed finish, putting Pep Guardiola’s men firmly in control.
Haaland struck again in the 55th minute, powering home a header from Phil Foden’s delivery to make it 3-0. Wolves, who struggled to get into the game, were further punished when substitute Mateo Kovačić sealed the rout in the 82nd minute with his first goal for the club.
Wolves’ frustrations grew as Nélson Semedo was sent off late in the match, leaving them with ten men. City dominated from start to finish, controlling possession and creating numerous chances.
The win puts Manchester City top of the table on opening weekend, while Haaland’s brace signals his intent to dominate the scoring charts once again this season.
