Kwankwaso will contest 2027 Presidency – NNPP dismisses rumoured defection to APC
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has reaffirmed that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will be contesting the 2027 presidential election, firmly denying recent speculations of his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released by the party’s leadership, the NNPP described the defection rumors as baseless and politically motivated, aimed at weakening the party’s growing influence across the country. The party emphasized that Kwankwaso remains fully committed to the NNPP and its vision for a better Nigeria.
The NNPP also accused opposition elements of deliberately spreading the false claims to distract its members and supporters. According to the party, preparations are already underway to position Kwankwaso as a strong contender in the next general elections.
Party loyalists expressed confidence that the former Kano State governor’s grassroots popularity and experience will give the NNPP a competitive edge in 2027.
