The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially discredited a fake press release making rounds on social media, which falsely claims that a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for its ongoing recruitment is scheduled for July 2025.
In a statement released on Sunday by Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, the National Public Relations Officer, the NCS labeled the publication as fraudulent and misleading.
βThe attention of the Nigeria Customs Service has been drawn to a fake press release currently circulating on social media and other messaging platforms, falsely announcing the shortlist for a Computer-Based Test (CBT),β the statement read.
Maiwada clarified that the announcement did not originate from the NCS, citing obvious signs of tampering including irregular formatting and a non-standard e-signature.
π¨ Key Takeaways:
The CBT shortlist message is fake.
The formatting and e-signature were inconsistent with NCS standards.
The timeline of the recruitment process in the fake message was fabricated.
NCS is tracing the source and will take legal action against the perpetrators.
π’ What You Should Do
The NCS is advising the public to ignore unverified messages and only trust official updates published via:
