The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has acknowledged errors in the marking of English Language and Mathematics scripts in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
In a statement, WAEC said the discrepancies were discovered during a post-examination review, revealing that some candidates’ scores were affected by technical and human errors during the marking and grading process.
The council confirmed that revised results have now been issued to all affected candidates, with schools and examination centres duly notified. WAEC apologised for the inconvenience caused, assuring students, parents, and stakeholders of its commitment to transparency and accuracy in its assessment process.
The examination body further announced that measures have been implemented to prevent a recurrence, including enhanced quality control checks and additional training for examiners.
