The Federal Government has directed immediate repairs on the Loko–Oweto–Agatu road, following growing concerns over the impact of flooding in Benue and Nasarawa States.
The road, which serves as a major link between the North-Central and other regions, has deteriorated in parts due to heavy rains and rising water levels, making movement difficult for commuters and transporters.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, said the intervention was necessary to prevent further damage and ensure safety. He assured that contractors had been mobilized to carry out emergency works on the affected sections.
Residents and motorists in the area welcomed the move, noting that the road is critical for economic activities, especially the movement of goods and farm produce.
The Federal Government further pledged to work with state governments to provide long-term solutions to the recurring flood menace in the area.
