The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has accused popular fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1 or K1 De Ultimate, of violating airport safety regulations by allegedly consuming alcohol in a restricted area of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

According to a statement released by FAAN on Tuesday evening, the incident occurred over the weekend when the musician was set to board a local flight. FAAN officials claim that Kwam 1 was spotted with an alcoholic beverage in the departure lounge, a prohibited act under airport conduct rules.

“It is against aviation safety regulations for any passenger to consume alcohol within secure areas of the terminal unless served in designated lounges or restaurants,” the statement read. “This rule is meant to prevent disruptive behavior and ensure public safety.”

Sources at the airport also allege that Kwam 1 engaged in a heated argument with security personnel who approached him, further drawing attention from other travelers.

In response to the allegations, Kwam 1’s management team has denied any wrongdoing, stating that the musician was targeted unfairly and that the incident was being exaggerated. They insist he was calmly enjoying a refreshment at a VIP lounge and complied with all airport protocols.

This incident comes amid increasing calls for stricter enforcement of decorum and conduct at Nigerian airports, especially involving high-profile individuals.

FAAN says it is investigating the matter and may consider sanctions if any breach of regulations is confirmed.
